Alabama-LSU highest rated game this season

first_imgAlabama running back Derrick Henry (2) stiff arms LSU safety Jamal Adams (33) on a long gainer in the second quarter at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on Saturday November 7, 2015Alabama running back Derrick Henry (2) stiff arms LSU safety Jamal Adams (33) on a long gainer in the second quarter at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on Saturday November 7, 2015It didn’t have quite the same element of the 2011 “Game of the Century” game, but last Saturday night’s Alabama-LSU still brought a crowd. The primetime CBS telecast on Nov. 7, which lasted three hours and 46 minutes, was the highest-rated and most-watched college football game this season according to figures released by the Nielsen rating system Tuesday.Alabama’s 30-16 victory, which pitted the No. 2 Tigers against No. 4 Crimson Tide according to the previous week’s College Football Playoff rankings, earned an average national rating/share of 6.4/12 and drew in 11.1 million viewers, according to Nielson.Compared to last year’s game in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the game saw an increase of 21 percent in household rating and 22 percent in viewers from last year’s game, which Alabama won 20-13 in overtime.Tide RB Henry for Heisman? While his name has been thrust into the national spotlight following a standout game against LSU on Saturday, Derrick Henry wants to have no part in it.Billed as a potential Heisman Trophy-clinching game for previous-runaway leader Leonard Fournette, last Saturday’s win turned into a confirmation for Henry.“I’m not really worried about the Heisman,” Henry said Saturday after rushing for 210 yards on a season-high 38 carries in a 30-16 win over LSU.Well, even if he’s not willing to talk about it, the rest of the country is doing it for him — including his quarterback, senior Jake Coker. When asked if Henry was the best running back in the country, Coker didn’t hesitate.“Coming from me, yes, um, yeah,” Coker said Saturday. “Yeah, you’re damn right he is.”Bovada Las Vegas placed Henry atop the latest Heisman Trophy odds released this week at 3-to-2, just ahead of Fournette at 2-to-1 odds, with Ohio State tailback Ezekiel Elliott in third with 7-to-1 odds.“He’s having a fantastic year, if you ask me,” Tide tight end O.J. Howard said. “I knew derrick was going to have a great year in the offseason because of the way he prepares.”According to a ESPN poll of college football “experts,” Henry jumped into the lead with 44 total points, 12 ahead of projected runner up Fournette and Baylor receiver Corey Coleman, whose 20 touchdowns this season earned him five of the 10 first-place votes. Henry had four others with Fournette getting the final first-place vote.“Henry’s sensational in Alabama’s thorough handling of LSU, and his head-to-head outperformning of national rushing leader Leonard Fournette, casts him in the role of new Heisman front-runner,” the ESPN story reads.Henry had been sitting in the middle of the pack at sixth in the Heisman race, according to most polls, with Fournette pulling more than 90 percent of the projected first-place votes.last_img read more

Sun on Sunday say Chelsea will make offer for Alderweireld

first_imgSome of the stories involving Chelsea in Sunday’s newspapers…Chelsea have again been tipped to move for Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld.Manchester United are also said to be interested in the Belgian amid ongoing speculation over his future.AdChoices广告The Sun on Sunday say Chelsea are planning to make an offer for Alderweireld, who has a year left on his Spurs contract and has so far not agreed the terms of a new deal. The Sun on Sunday also say the two clubs must put aside years of bad blood, which started when director of football Frank Arnesen left White Hart Lane for Chelsea in 2005, to get a deal done.Embed from Getty Images The newspaper also say Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has lined up Matthijs de Ligt, 18, of Ajax as a potential replacement for Alderweireld.Meanwhile, Chelsea could potentially groundshare with West Ham when Stamford Bridge is being redeveloped, again according to The Sun on Sunday. And the Sunday Express claim Chelsea have given an indication they will look to appoint Juventus boss Max Allegri after apparently making a move for the Italian club’s sporting director Fabio Paratici. It comes after a couple of Italian websites claimed Chelsea are interested in appointing Paratici this summer. Hodgson slams disrespectful Ghana

first_imgFulham manager Roy Hodgson has stoked the traditional club versus country fire by calling Ghana and other African nations disrespectful for demanding the release their players in time for Angola 2010 preparations. The Englishman is furious that Ghana have officially requested the release of right back John Paintsil for pre-CAN camping in South Africa on December 27 when they have a game lined up against Chelsea the following day.And he has vowed to ignore the GFA request unless they also insist on injured Michael Essien’s arrival at the same time.“It is probably an oversight on their part and I don’t expect for one minute Ghana to insist Paintsil leaves the day before we play Chelsea, or that Essien leaves Chelsea,” Hodgson said.“I think it was a bit disrespectful of the African nations teams to write to English clubs asking for players to be released on December 27th when they know we have matches on December 28th especially as they have a two and half week preparation period.”“I do expect Paintsil to play on the 28th unless FIFA intervenes. But we will then have to insist that Drogba goes as well.” Ghana intend to fly out to Nelspruit in South Africa on December 27 in preparations for the tournament in Angola. They can insist on the release of Paintsil that same day even if Ivory Coast grant Didier Drogba special dispensation to play on December 28.And if Hodgson refuses to release Paintsil, the GFA can ask FIFA to stop him from playing in that game.It is unlikely to come to that and Paintsil could well arrive in South Africa after that Chelsea game but this looks like the first case of what is traditionally bitter club versus country confrontations in the build up to the Nations Cup.The issue has become particularly thorny in England because unlike most countries the Premier League will be in full flight during the festive period.Source: Kickoff.comlast_img read more

IMCA settles federal trademark lawsuit against Brzezinski Racing Products

first_imgThe Federal lawsuit was filed in November of 2018, and a State lawsuit suit was filed in August of 2019 in Benton County, Iowa, resulting from the discovery by IMCA of undercover porting work and unauthorized usage of the IMCA trademark on engine cylinder heads not authorized under IMCA’s rules.  “IMCA is pleased to close this two-year legal chapter. Successfully defending our trademark and certification process continues to be a high priority here and IMCA will continue to maintain its vigilance in monitoring compliance with our rules,” said IMCA President Brett Root. “IMCA’s trademark plays an integral part in IMCA’s rules, and the certification and enforcement process which provides confidence in the fairness of IMCA racing to all our member drivers and every IMCA sanctioned track.” VINTON, Iowa – More than two years after catching and confirming Brzezinski Racing Products placing the IMCA trademark on non-approved cylinder heads and engaging in impermissible modifications to IMCA approved EQ cylinder heads, IMCA has settled its federal trademark lawsuit against Brzezinski Racing Products and its owner, Randall Brzezinski. As a result, balance and fairness has been restored through IMCA’s continued vigilance in monitoring and enforcing IMCA’s divisional rules.  Brzezinski Racing Products will also cease and desist from any “disguise” work consisting of placing the IMCA logo or trademark on non-IMCA 350I cylinder heads.center_img Under the terms of the settlement, Brzezinski Racing Products, based in Pewaukee, Wis., and Randall Brzezinski, agreed to cease performing any and all “undercover porting” work on EQ 350I engine heads sold to or serviced for IMCA participants, and certified that no such future work will be performed. IMCA drivers with non-compliant ported 350I heads may expect to be contacted by letter, giving each the option to replace their impermissibly altered cylinder heads with IMCA compliant cylinder heads at Brzezinski’s expense. Brzezinski Racing Products has also agreed to remove the IMCA trademark on all impermissibly ported heads that are returned. last_img read more

Tweet this comment Cancel Submit Comment Subscribe to None Replies All new comments by Devin McCue, Sumner Newscow — Throw your TV and computer in the trash this weekend, go for a walk in the park (or something outside at least), and take a listen to these tasty selections from the CultureCow’s music of the week.  The first cut goes to the creamy goodness from Pittsburgh, Pa. that is Mac Miller and his newest album, Swimming. After half a decade of party songs and wilding out, Mac made a name for himself as a serious rapper with his last album, the Divine Feminine.  The Divine Feminine was featured, written in part by, and dedicated to Mac’s girlfriend and muse Arianna Grande, but she and Miller had a nasty breakup a short time ago.  If TDF was a love letter, Swimming is a diary entry written in tears.  In the album, Mac talks about his life post-Grande, which includes a lot of meditation, moments of despair, and self-help (which is the title of one of my favorite songs on the album no less).Lots of rappers talk about their feelings and mental health these days, but lack of specificity and the overuse of catchy hooks can make the songs lose the true message in the hurry for radio play.  Mac’s songs are truly honest and provide some insight into the rapper’s life as he recovers from a brutal separation in his eyes. But while the theme of the album is a little morbid, you’d not guess by some of the up-tempo and old-Miller style of songs like my absolute favorite on the album, What’s the Use that is so quintessentially Mac Miller yet still talks has a depressing through-line about giving up in a way.  Artistically what sets this album apart from his previous work is the sheer amount of singing he does.  He’s singing more than he ever has and is doing it much better.  Take a peep at Swimming today and if you need any more convincing, check out his Tiny Desk Concert at NPR, linked below.WARNING: the video contains explicit language…<span data-mce-type=”bookmark” style=”display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;” class=”mce_SELRES_start”></span>Let’s move from Pennsylvania, all the way down to Texas and into the concrete wad of roads and traffic that is Houston where H-Town always holds it down.  The tidal wave that hit the county this week from the H is from a Mr. Travis Scott who took a week off from GQ photo shoots with the wifey, which by the way if you haven’t seen, open a new window and google that right now, I’ll wait…Welcome back, as I was saying, Travis Scott is back after a long hiatus with a new offering, Astroworld which takes its name from the foreclosed amusement park that went up near the Astro’s stadium.  Astroworld is an extremely busy album chock-full of big names that could very easily overshadow the young superstar, but instead fade into the background and make a lush tapestry of musical seamlessness (to name a few of those big names, there’s Drake, Frank Ocean, Stevie Wonder, Swae Lee, Kid Cudi, The Weeknd, 21 Savage, and two-thirds of the Migos).I’ll be the first one to admit, I’m not a huge Travis Scott fan, I think his raspy singing voice has all the singing voice of a throat-sick Post Malone with the lyricism of a stone-drunk Wiz Khalifa.  That being said, both his major-label albums have been excellently put together with care and precision.  Astroworld is a marvel of production value and shows what 28 to 42 people can do with all the time, money, and talent in the world.  So while Travis Scott might actually be the worst part of this album, the album itself is definitely worth a few listens. The next suggestion I have for you is a pair of music videos so if you have the dexterity to walk and watch, more power to you, but there’s no shame in taking a break on your outdoors adventure to sit on a rock or park bench to check out the newest and greatest vids by Tyler the Creator.  Tyler the Creator has come a long way from spoof-rapping his most popular songs and eating bugs to becoming a Grammy-nominated star with a million-dollar clothing line and starting a gay revolution in a largely homophobic musical genre. As his popularity, talent, and the size of his bank account rise, so does the production value of his videos and that’s no more apparent than his first video for his song, See You Again.  See You Again is a track off his album Flower Boy and takes place in part on a navy vessel where Tyler (and his bunk-mate A$AP Rockey) is solemnly missing some far-off significant other while he sports a Golf Le Fleur (his brand) jump suit and a cheetah-print haircut.  The next video is a loose-leaf video he and A$AP Rocky dropped for the fun of it called POTATO SALAD.The video takes place in Paris and has a funky-karaoke type lyrics generator throughout.  Tyler the Creator is a rising star on a meteoric pace as of late and if his new style of music videos is any indication of what we’re to expect from the man, we’re in for a wild and spectacular ride.AGAIN EXPLICIT LANGUAGE.
